I agree with you. I think these devices are used by writers in their works to express his or her message to the audience in a simple manner or undestandable way.
yeah,as I said before, the biggest purpose, of these literary devices, is artistic, in such a way that language takes on great importance, since attention often lies on it. Therefore, style in a literary text is important, that is, the way in which language is used by an era or author. That is why the author uses a vocabulary and resources that move his text away from everyday language and draw attention to it.
The literary devices, add things like texture, energy and emotion to the storys, these terms help to capture the imagination and emotion of the reader more easily.
As a reader it is important to know the literary devices because they make the texts more interesting and more fun to read. for example, If you were to read a novel without knowing any literary devices, chances are you wouldn't be able to detect many of the layers of meaning into the story via the different techniques.
Of course! In addition to that not only beautify the piece of literature but also give us deeper meanings to it, testing the very understanding of the readers along with providing them enjoyment of reading. Besides, they help motivating readers imagination to visualize the characters and scenes more clearly.
Because, it doesn't matter ir you're a writer, reader, student, or all of the above, it's important to know how literary devices work. For readers, they can provide a greater understanding of the text. And for students, knowing a few literary devices might just be the key to an A+ English paper!
I was reading that literary devices have two kinds or aspects. They can be treated are literary elements and literary techniques. There are differences between them, literary elements have an inherent existence in literary piece and are developed by writers to carry out a literary piece e.g. plot, setting, narrative structure, characters, mood, theme, moral etc. On the other hand writer also employ literary techniques which are structures, sometimes can be a word or phrases in literary texts that writers use to achieve not only artistic ends but also readers can appreciate better of their literary pieces. Some examples will be metaphor, simile, alliteration, hyperbole, allegory etc.
the content and form go very closely together in a literary text, so that the former conditions, in many cases, the latter. What mainly defines a literary text is the form, since there is no especially literary content. Therefore, it is very important that the writer, to get the reader's attraction, devote special attention to literary language, especially with regard to the forms of elocution and the different resources that can be of different types
I like the way you present the situation to introduce the topic since you are pointing out the content and form go very closely together in a literary text, for this reason writers use techniques help to add meaning to their writing, get their message across more poignantly, the scenes can be interpreted and understand the ideas with greater depth.
That's right, lilee. It Aldo means that being able to identify when different literary techniques are being used helps you understand the motivation behind the author's choices. For example, being able to identify symbols in a story can help you figure out why the author might have chosen to insert these focal points and what these might suggest in regard to her/his attitude toward certain characters, plot points, and events.
We'll also note that some literary devices double as rhetorical devices, which are used to convey meaning and/or persuade readers on a certain point. The difference is that literary devices can be used to enhance writing in many different ways, not all of which involve trying to convince readers of something. Basically, literary devices are artistic; rhetorical devices that are informative and persuasive. It said, there can still be quite a bit of overlap between the two.
