Have you ever read any other novel written by Stephen King? Do you think "Desperation" is one of his biggest novels? Why?

50 comentarios:

  1. Hi, this is the first time I read a novel by Stephen King, this I liked it better than Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irvin, because it contains a fresh and contemporary vocabulary.
It's good, but I can not say if one of his greatest works because I have not read another, but this novel is very interesting but scary, I think the writers have a unique imagination to create stories that capture the attention of many people in the world.

  3. Remember that "Sleepy Hollow" was written in the 19th century! that's why the vocabulary is a little bit difficult to understand at once! And Diego, I congratulate you because you've searched information about Stephen King! The authors' biography may explain why they write what they write!! jejejeje!! Have you looked for the audiobook? I haven't found it yet! :-(

  4. Hello, well in my opinion it is not his biggest one, of course not.... I prefer Pet sementary and Dreamcather, i love them, they are just great. I do not like so much this one because it is not the kind of novel i like reading, i prefer more frightening novel, and Desperation is not one of them, well, at least for me.

  5. hello everyone!
well, I if I have read a novel called MISERY.
with regard to his best novels. I think that desperation was not one of the best ones. because desperation showed no suspense, horror, terror. there was no harassment that make antagonist to the protagonist. that is, harassment that the villain of the story goes behind for the victim to kill it, dismember, possess. the antagonist´s action was very simple. now, if I compare with the only novel I have read "misery." misery if it conveyed fear, terror, suspense. that every time I read the novel. I involved into it. it was becoming more interesting.
for that, I think the novel written by Stephen King "Desperation" was not one of the best.

  7. Well really I did not read any other literary work of Stephen King but if I read a story of horror genre which was written by Jay Anson called "The Amityville Horror." However I have been reading desesperation and I consider that is most understandable that the story of the headless horseman, I think that is because it is contemporary. Lucy =)

  8. I agree with Carle and Carmen! Stephen King has written better novels than Desperation! However, it has exciting and interesting parts! What makes a fiction novel interesting?

    ResponderEliminar
  9. I consider that makes a fiction novel interesting is because there are possible events that tells a framework developed in purely imaginary time-space. the action can rotate to innimaginables things like: Ufo´s attack, evolution of machines, etc, so I thinks that all those elements make a novel very interesting=) Lucy

  10. Hello everyone, but this is the first story, I read from Stephen King, not by my own choice but by responsibility to the subject. Yes, I like reading; but most stories related with: romance, science fiction, fantasy and personal development.I have researched about the different works of stephen King, and he has a lot of. Among which we mention: analogies, short stories, poems, novels, non fiction, among others. According to the various work that he have done I could see that most are those involved tilting the horror, supense, fear and other feelings.

  11. Stephen King likes the Dark mood when I saw the movie and compared it with I've read of the story,I must admit that this field has taught me and aroused my interest in the readings that contain terror and suspense, it raises the need to continue reading until the end to dispel the fear level that produces the storylines.

  12. Yes, I think is one of the most important works of Stephen, with Desperation he won two nominations of Emmy Award. He had the opportunity to edit the film as well was televised by ABC channel.
Other work that could compare with, was "the regulators" which had many similarities with the work I named before and hid under the name of "Richard Bachman".

  13. What makes a book or a story interesting is what the reader feels for the development of the plot.
There is a famous saying in Spanish: "between tastes and colors the authors have not written"

    ResponderEliminar
  14. I think that makes them interesting because it involves a world of possibilities of what could happen and has never been, always will experience different emotions as the events occurred. When we read we can identify or imbued with some of the characters and become one of them too, knowing that they are imaginary facts but away from the possibility that anything can happen.

  15. Stephen king is know for his horror novels, movies, series, r and science fiction.
Well, I was researching about stephen's novels and found that I have seen two of his many works such as Pet Sematary in 1983, and the Mist, films based on novels, the two are very good works as are all his works. Pet Sematary is a good horror movie also i saw it again and i got scared.
I can not say that Desperation is his biggest work, because i haven`t really read his novels, for the moment i am Reading Desperation and the movie that is a horror movie. Perhaps i think that is more interesting seeing the movie that reading the novel because it`s is very long, but this novel was nominated to Locus award, in 1997, Best horror novel(winner), International Horror Guild Award, 1996, BestNovel (Nominatión)

  18. I can not really talk about Steve King, because it is the first time I read a novel by him, but I could see desperation and taste, excellent plot, very real characters, setting, the environment, the only thing I thought was the final unless the viewer than the beginning of the novel ... and I think what makes it interesting feature films is to keep the viewer in suspense, that what happens in the novel has a connection with reality and part fantasy, because it relates to the every day and turn to myths or legends to be said.

  19. desperation is a good novel or story which has good events and great imagination of the writer stephen. For me the horror of this novel is very profesional and fits into what this man dreamed of writing it. is very interesting, but better than this, it is misery because I loved the way it portrays the character of Annie, how do you explain your thinking. It may seem a bit obsessive but once you go into the story one wants to know how to save the protagonist. Impact parts of the cruelty of history.

Other comments is about pet sementary, although not the best Stephen King novel, it hooks you from start to finish. So still the number one terror. I am afraid because the black cat appears there was very cruel.

  20. Stephen King is a very good and creative writer, as Dhiego said he was alcoholic maybe he took inpiration from those drunk night Where alcohol took over his thoughts and created powerful and inexplicable beings, that humanity could not explain. That is why many of his creations used pseudonyms such as Richard Bachman and John Swith.

Despite I have always heard of this famous writer, I never had the opportunity to read some of his creations, this one in particular seems to me a great story like "The Nightmare" by Graham Masterton. Very bloody and sometimes unfair as everything in the real life but at the end the good guys always win.

  33. Hi everybody! This was the first Novel that I read by Steven King and I didn`t like it because This novel deals with a supernatural being called tak whose sole aim is to feed on the energy of a human being.just this.I prefer novels where the opponent attacks its victims and makes them suffer. that`s why, I didn`t like it.

  38. I think that Desperation is an interesting novel primarily because during its historical development. It kept me on suspense that reflects this history. The characters live so frighten because of a supernatural being, and finally the struggle between goodness (God) and badness (Tak). God being the winner.
In addition to the novel Desperation I had the opportunity to read other litery works, called Misery where the central point is the character represented by mad nurse. Claret

  39. Hi everyone!
In my last opinion I wrote that I didn`t like the novel, well also I saw the movie and I think the same because DEsperation movie LOOKS LIKE A movie OF Beginer. Stephen what happen to you! Your fans want novels and movies that do not let them sleep for weeks.

  40. Hello!I want to say that I like the horror genre and all that is mysterious and full of panic, in my opinion the novel Desperation there are terror and suspense scenes that keep the viewer anxious, but the author also wrote many episodes full of magic and mysticism, and this makes the story lose credibility in the plot.:-)
My expectations for the final were different, I thought it would be overcome by evil differently and not really finished.:-(

  46. well, I don't think we have enough time to read the pet cementery because the semester is finishing, but I think desperation was very good, ok it is not maybe the best novel written by mr.King but for me it was good, because the story is interesting, he wrote many novels and a lot of them were best seller, I read that in the novels he always writes about towns or people invented and in some characters he puts some characteristics from his own personality maybe because he had a very excited life during his youth, besides two of his sons are writers too and one of them wrote a short story that will be adapted and the warner broters company will make a film about it.

uhm For me a good fiction novel has to be interesting and it must have a lot of suspense, in this way the autor keeps the atention of the reader, and when he or she read the novel are anxios and interested for knowing what happen next and what happen at he end

    ResponderEliminar
  47. me again... teacher for me a good fiction novel must be not only interesting, the writer must sorprise the reader and make him/her to think and he must to do this with intelligence, besides in my personal opinion the characters are very important they must be ordinary and they must have characteristics and customs out the traditional for example a serial killer with some special love for the flowers that is very rare and something like that, for me these thing are the principals condition in a fiction novel... actitud actitud... people

    ResponderEliminar
  48. Normedy my friend I'm depply agree with you a fiction novel must be amazing, it must have to sorprise people catch them attention because this is the way for getting a best seller. Killing people is something easy in novels however, keeping the viewer's attention is something extremely complicated. And Stephen King definitely knew how.
