Literary Genres

According to the classification of literary genres given in the first blog of the virtual classroom, explain the reason why you prefer fictional or non-fictional literature. Then, specify the types of stories you like (biographies, mistery, science fiction, etc) depending on your previous answer and name some of the stories you have read!

  1. I prefer the novels of terror and suspense, I consider most interesting.

  2. I prefer non-fiction because it expresses the real and authentic, however the fiction everything is just to entertain...

I like romance novels, I read Doña Barbara, Cien años de Soledad (very good), la Iliada (but don't remember much about it) Mujercitas, the women in white and the phantom of the opera.

  4. according to what I know and I have read about literature, the genre what I like the most is fictional one, it is more interesting for me and I get so exciting everytime I read a story about crimes or murders. I like to read a lot, so I like other generes too, but they do not catch my attention like fictional does. I have read a lot of stories like (But was it a murder?, the legend of sleepy hollow, the picture of Dorian Gray, The phanton of the opera, Dreamcatcher, among others)

  6. oh well. i prefer fitcional novels because you can feel that you are inside the novel. live what the characters are living too. also with horror novel, after you finish one you may think that things that happend around you, are quite the same than in the novel and all you can say is: WTF!:O

    novels i`ve read?
    - La Iliada (i know that isn`t in english but c`mon is a good novel)
-THe Woman in white (kinda mistery and suspence, also a lil bit romantic but it mades me bite my nails U_U)
    - Vingt mille lieues sous les mers (20000 Leagues Under the Sea) by Julio Verne. a clasic !!!!!
-Odyssey (this is a poem. but it could be taken as a novel too :D) By Homero( AND NO, ISN`T HOMERO SIMPSON... for god`s sake)..... if you want to know more about my favorites novels just ask me. don`t be shy :D

  7. Well, as Mely is interested in knowing some of the stories I have read, let me mention some of the more interesting stories that I have the opportunity to read in my freetimes, "Babe-pig in the city" Who can deny that this story is lovely?,

"Veronica decides to die". This is the best one of Paolo Coelho, I must admit he's my favorite writer. And I also read others like (Alchemist, 11 Minutes, The Zahir, The evil and Miss Prym, The fifth montain), "Brida" this one made me fall love with Paolo. My God! brida is the best one, "The winner stadns alone".

"The sands of time" by Sidney Sheldon, this special story was very funny and long but it was really hard to imagine nuns as prostitutes in a city as conservative as Spain. And well as you can see I'm addicted to reading.

There are many stories which I have read and I don't mention them because that would make this forum tedious

  8. Excellent comments!! The people who did not participate last week, won't have any score! So, you can participate if you want, but I won't assign any grade for that because you're doing it out of time!! On the other hand, I congratulate Olaguer, Meryann, Carlenni, Geraldine and Diego for being so responsible. We can write more comments about the same topic until I post a new one for the novel "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".

  12. well, that happens to all the stories that were initially created in written form and were later brought to the big screen. For example, Angels and Demons an excellent story in reading is concerned, however it sucks compared to the movie. It's inevitably not see or understand the serious mistakes made in their running, besides the difference between the story told in text and projected in the lens. Don't you agree?

  19. I like fiction leterature because I have the freedom to let my imagination fly, trying to discover what the writer wants to show me through words. To be more specific in the types of stories I like, are Science fiction because This kind of story is alwys looking for something to investigate and most of the time is linked by adventure that bring to the reader some action.
